Family
Angel
Real Name: Angel Salvadore
First Appearance: New X-Men #118
Group Affiliation: Xavier's Institute for Higher Learning (Special Class), formerly Magneto's Brotherhood
Distinguishing Features: Veined wings
Mutation: Angel is capable of flight through her wings. She also possesses highly acidic vomit, which she needs to digest food.
Angel's mutation manifested itself after she was kicked out of her home by her abusive stepfather. She was then captured by the U-Men and rescued by Wolverine. As a student in Xavier's Institute for Higher Learning, Angel ridiculed her classmates for embracing their genetic identities. She herself hated being a mutant and made fun of Beak for his freakish appearance. She kissed him on a bet from some of the other students, unintentionally causing Beak to fall in love with her. Inexplicably, Angel also grew attached to Beak and got involved with him romantically. She later became pregnant and gave birth to a dozen fly / bird / human hybrids, who she decided to name after the Jacksons.
When Angel and the rest of the Special Class were forced to serve as Magneto's new Brotherhood, she stood up for Ernst and Beak and protested Magneto's terrorist acts. With the defeat of Magneto at the hands of the X-Men, Angel, Beak and their children were welcomed back to the Institute. They lived together in a small house separate from the student dormitories, until Beak was unwillingly unhinged from time and recruited into the Exiles. Believing Beak to have run away and abandoned her, Angel swore off all men. She is now left to raise their children alone.
Beak's Kids
Real Names: Tito, Axel, Kara, other unidentified children presumably named after members of the Jackson Family
First Appearance: New X-Men #140 (as larvae), New X-Men #141 (as babies)
Group Affiliation: None
Distinguishing Features: Some of the babies possess their mother's veined wings, while others possess their father's bird-like arms, talons, feathers and beak.
Mutation: The babies with wings are able to fly, but those without do not currently have any discernible powers (much like Beak himself).
Beak and Angel's children were born five days after they were conceived, emerging from their cocoons as toddlers. Some of them had Angel's insect-like wings and others had Barnell's feathery arms. Some had Barnell's beak and strange blue eyes, while others had their mother's completely human facial features. They went with their parents to New York when Magneto forced them to join his new Brotherhood. By then, the children were capable of speaking and seemed to understand what was going on around them. They were very distressed when Magneto sent Barnell to be executed along with the humans. After Magneto was defeated, the children went back to the Institute with their parents and lived in a house separate from the student dorms. Recently, however, Beak was unhinged from time and drafted into the Exiles. The children now live without their father.
Tito
Real Name: Tito (last name unknown, possibly Bohusk)
First Appearance: New X-Men #151
Last Appearance: New X-Men #154
Group Affiliation: X-Men
Distinguishing Features: Bird-like arms and head, prominent beak, feathers and talons
Mutation: Tito is capable of flight through his wing-like arms.
In the alternate dystopian future of Here Comes Tomorrow, Tito was an X-Man who fought courageously and died in the battle against Sublime (a.k.a. the Beast). From Tito, we learn that his grandfather Barnell Bohusk was a legendary X-Man and a renowned hero. In honor of Barnell, Tito took the codename "the Beak," used a baseball bat as his primary weapon and even wore a padlock necklace similar to Barnell's. Whether or not Tito was the only other Bohusk to assume the mantle of the Beak is unknown.
